The Jordan Micro Credit Company (Tamweelcom) was established as a non-profit organization to pioneer the field of micro-enterprise support and development.
On June 20, 1999, Tamweelcom was registered at the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a limited liability company owned by the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation which operates independently under the umbrella of the King Hussein Foundation.
Tamweelcom was launched with capital from several sources. The Noor Al-Hussein Foundation donated JD30,000 of registered capital. Soon thereafter, Tamweelcom signed a grant agreement with USAID through the AMIR program which was established to support the business sector in Jordan. Throughout the years, Tamweelcom has garnered financial support from a variety of local and international sources; including loans from the European Union and the Development and Employment Fund of the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
